For more than a year we have been working on this and FINALLY success!!!
More than a year ago we started getting requests for Traditional Hand Made Lithuanian Christmas Tree Ornaments made of Straw. At first we thought that this should not be too much of a problem to find some one who makes these here in Lithuania - We were wrong.
Sadly we found out that this art form, like the hand decorated Marguciai eggs, is becoming a dieing art in Lithuania. The people who did this are passing away or getting too old to perform this intricate skill and the art is not being passed down to the younger generation.
From just absolutely shear luck we found an artist that still makes these traditional items. She is from the Vilnius region. Her work has been displayed in museums in Lithuania and Europe. She has received numerous awards and citations from art, historical and cultural societies and from the Republic of Lithuania and other countries.
Please remember that since they are made by hand the measurements are approximate and no two are exactly the same.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Around Christmas time some of the larger stores here in Lithuania sell boxed assortments of what look to be Traditional Hand Made Lithuanian Christmas Tree Ornaments made of Straw. We must admit that they look very nice but THEY ARE MADE IN CHINA.
The Lithuanian Christmas Tree Ornaments we offer are MADE BY HAND by a LITHUANIAN ARTIST in LITHUANIA using straw that came from LITHUANIAN FARMS.
They are 100% LITHUANIAN!
