The photos alone touch deep into your heart
From the Genocide and Resistance Research Centre of Lithuania.
I will be perfectly honest and tell you that as many times as I have looked through my copy of this book it is impossible to not become emotional when I look at it again. The photos alone touch deep into your heart as do the first hand stories of families separated, loss of loved ones and the fight for daily survival.
This book does an excellent job of explaining the genocide and crimes against humanity Moscow conducted on the people of Lithuania. It explains the reasons for which people were deported, what the conditions were like during the deportation journey, the living conditions of the gulags and Siberian villages and how these people tried to cope with the task of simply staying alive.
